Family: Cyperaceae
General Habit: Perennial sedge with short rhizomes.
Stems: Culms growing upto 100 cm height, round, slender, somewhat rigid, and light
green in color.
Leaves: Thickened leaf blade greyish green in colour, 2/3 length of the culm, entire but spinulescent margin at upper portion, sheath is reddish-brown in color.

Flowers: Inflorescence is umbellate, rays up to 15 cm long, each bearing a dense spike. Spikelets, flat, composed of 3 - 5 flowers, leaf-like bracts, reddish-brown at base.
Roots: Short rhizomes.
Propagation: Through rhizomes and seeds.
