1. Rice is generally stored as rough rice on the farm producers, mandi or rural godowns, mills or in commercial ware houses.

2. It is generally stored in jute bags or in bins. Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC) is the biggest State Warehousing Corporation of India with a storage capacity of 57.66 lakh MTs, & a network of 114 warehouses, 270 Procurement Centres, and 2 Container Freight Stations (CFSs) and 3 Inland Container Depots (ICDs).

3. It not only accounts for more than 1/3rd of the total combined capacity available with all the State Warehousing Corporations in the country put together, but is also the 2nd largest CFS operator in the Northern India
