Peg type puddler

1. Peg type puddler requires about 150 kg draft and is pulled by a 35 hp tractor. The actual width of implement is 2.0 m. 2. It is used to break the soil clods near saturation level into soil particles in order to prepare homogenized puddle tilth for mechanized paddy transplanting. 3. The equipment in combination with cage wheel provide higher puddling performance

Rotary puddler

1. It consists of a rectangular angle iron frame of 230 x 85 x 115 cm size on which a 12 cm rotor shaft in mounted on two wooden bearings. 2. The actual width of the implement is 2.2 m. 3. The puddler requires about 200 kg draft and can be pulled by a 45 hp tractor covering an area of about 0.6 ha/h.

Spiked Clod Crusher

1. The length of a tractor drawn clod crusher could be up to 3.0 meter. On the periphery of the roller, spikes are arranged in helical manner to reduce the draft. 2. The weight of the clod crusher is about 150 - 200 kg If the clods are dry enough and do not break easily then the weight of the crusher is increased by filling the roller from one side with pebbles or stones. 3. Spiked cold crusher has given minimum draft and maximum reduction in clod size. 4. The draft of the spiked crusher is about 60 kg for animal drawn type.

Rotavator

1. The use of rotavator can prepare the field in less time. This machine is commercially available in different sizes to suit different size of tractors. 2. In light soil it can prepare field in one pass where as for heavy soils at least two passes are required to prepare the field suitable for sowing purpose. 3. The implement could be operated with a 40-45 hp tractor or more depending upon the size of rotavator. It can cover an area of about 1.50 to 2.0 ha per day.

Trailed Type Offset Disc Harrow

1. This implement can be driven with the help of a 35 hp or more tractors. The harrow is basically a secondary tillage implement and is designed to cut the soil to a shallow depth (7.50 to 10 cm) and pulverize it.
2. It is available in various sizes i.e. according to the size of disc and their number, 10,12,14 and 16 discs, to suit a particular size of tractor.
3. The weight of this equipment may be about 600 kg. A 12 disc harrow having 1370 cm width may cover an area of about 0.65 ha/h

Wing Type Sub-soiler

1. A winged type sub-soiler (Pant Nagar Design) consists of a rectangular frame, a main straight tine with re¬placeable shin and a replaceable foot and two leading tines.
2. Performance test of this sub-soiler has shown maximum soil disturbance, about 3 times more, compared to the conventional curved leg type sub-soiler.
3. The width of coverage is about 1.30 meter and it leaves almost level field in contrast to conventional sub-soilers with a very little increase in draft requirement.
4. It can be pulled with a tractor of 50 hp or more depending upon the depth of operation

Sub-soiler

1. Sub-soiler is used for disturbing the soil at a greater depth normally at 60 to 70 cm.
2. This implement has a single either straight or curved leg and can be operated with a 45 horse power or more tractor.

Disc Plough

1. This implement is ideal for deep tillage (20 to 25 cm) in areas where the climate is comparatively dry and the soil is hard, rough with pebbles or stones i.e. in a situation where mould board plough can not perform well.
2. This implement can also be used in heavy clay soil. The approximate weight of this equipment varies between 180 to 540 kg per disk for tractor drawn.
3. In tractor drawn type the number of discs may vary from 1 to 7 with disc diameter as 50 to 80 cm. It penetrates into the soil because of its weight only. 4. A scraper blade is also provided with each disc to keep the disc surface clean.
